Steel production in 64 countries reporting data to the World Steel Association decreased by 3.5% in May 2022 compared to the same period in 2021, to 169.5 million tons, the organization said. Compared to April of this year, steel production increased by 4.2%. Russia last month, according to preliminary data from the association, reduced steel production by 1.4% in annual terms, to 6.4 million tons. On a monthly basis, the indicator has not changed. World steel production in January-May decreased by 6.3%, amounting to 791.8 million tons. In the Russian Federation for five months, steel production decreased by 2.3% – to 31 million tons.
