The most expensive is the Russian Brazilian.
The reputable international football portal Transfermarkt regularly publishes information on transfers, statistics and player transfer rumors. But the main thing he specializes in is determining the transfer value of players. It depends on several factors: the statistical indicators of the player and the team, the demand for the player in the domestic and foreign transfer markets, age, and the level of the championship.
According to the portal, at the moment the most expensive player with a Russian passport is CSKA Moscow defender Mario Fernandez. Despite his impressive age by football standards – in September the player turned 30 years old – he is estimated at 22 million euros. For nine seasons, Mario has been one of the key and style-forming players of CSKA. The performance for the Russian national team also has a positive effect on its value: a native of Brazil, Fernandez has been playing for the national team since 2016, when he received Russian citizenship. The positive media image of a football player is also taken into account in the assessment. According to the Betonmobile portal, in December the player received the annual Gentleman of the Year award from Komsomolskaya Pravda.
On the second place in the list is the midfielder of the French “Monaco” Alexander Golovin, his cost is 20 million euros. In an interview with BetON, influential football agent Aleksey Safonov rated Alexander as a player of European level. Transfermarkt experts also share this opinion: Golovin is one of the four most expensive players in the French club.
On the third line of the list is the midfielder of the Italian Atalanta Alexei Miranchuk. It is estimated at 18 million euros. The player moved to Italy before the start of the season and is currently joining the team. Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini called Alexey a skillful player and noted that he would use his skills for the good of the team when he understood the strengths of the Russian.
Also in the top ten most valuable footballers of Russia are Fedor Chalov (CSKA, € 13 million), Artem Dzyuba (Zenit), Roman Zobnin (Spartak), Anton Miranchuk and Dmitry Barinov (both Lokomotiv) – 12 million each €, as well as Krasnodar players Matvey Safonov (€ 11 million) and Magomed-Shapi Suleimanov (€ 10 million).
